Thursday 10/29/31
Aloha kākou! As the newly elected President of the Kona Historical Society Board of Directors, I’m excited to welcome you to Na Mea Hou, or “New Things,” a new space on our website where we can share what’s happening at KHS, what we’re working on, and what’s ahead for our organization as we work together to get through this challenging time.
Kona Historical Society has a long and proud history of preserving and sharing the stories, places, and traditions that make Kona so special. As we look toward the future, our Board is committed to keeping our members, supporters, and community informed and engaged in the work we do. We have been deeply moved by the overwhelming outpouring of support from our community in response to our recent call for help. With that generosity comes a responsibility we take seriously: to be transparent about how we are stewarding the resources entrusted to us, the decisions we are making, and the steps we are taking to secure KHS's future. Through Na Mea Hou, you can expect regular updates from the Board about our priorities, projects, challenges, and successes, along with opportunities to get involved and help shape the next chapter of KHS.
Most importantly, we hope this space will foster a stronger connection between KHS and the community we serve. Preserving Kona’s history has always been a collective effort, and we know that our future depends on the continued support, ideas, and aloha of our community. Mahalo for answering our call, for believing in our mission, and for being part of our KHS ʻohana. We look forward to sharing this journey with you!
Aloha piha,
Laysan
