KEALAKEKUA RESIDENT & KONA HISTORICAL SOCIETY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
PHOTO ONE: The memories that will likely stick with me will no doubt be the sensory experiences of fear and uncertainty that naturally bubbled to the surface during quarantine. I chose to find ways to soothe these feelings with music, both listening to my favorite records and reacquainting myself with my 21-year-old guitar.
PHOTO TWO: TikTok, as a platform for self-expression, has created an opportunity for everyday humans to shine. The videos we are creating inspire each other, give comfort to each other, and connect each other. This social media platform has provided a window into other lives, experiences, backyards, and homes, allowing for the display of a full spectrum of human creativity.
PHOTO THREE: Physical fitness has been very hard to come by. In Hawaii we are lucky because we can continue exercising out in the open as long as we continue practicing social distancing. Keeping calm and focused has involved a lot of stretching and focusing on every breath. Whether I'm exercising at home or isolated outside, my yoga mat is my best friend.
